Krystine grew up on a farm in rural Minnesota where she was able to have and care for an array of animals ranging from rabbits to horses. She graduated from Chiropractic College and spent 25 years caring for her patients nutritionally, structurally, and through guided exercise programs. During that time, not only helping her patients, she also started working alongside vets to enhance the lives of many dogs and cats.
Her love of animals as well as recognizing a need for a facility that was home-like, fun, and safe, led to the opening of Bark Avenue Pet Lodge. She spends her spare time working obedience and agility training with her Standard Poodle, Ramsey. She and her husband, Rick, also have four cats: Jinx, Essie, Dolly, and Loretta, along with a backyard full of chickens and peafowl.

Bark Avenue is pleased to offer Basic Obedience classes with trainer Jocelyn Knight. Jocelyn is a member of the Association of Professional Dog trainers and holds a BA in Training for horses. Her work with dogs began before gaining experience with horses. She trained dogs professionally in Boston Massachusetts and has entered her own dogs in various AKC events, including (but not limited to) obedience. You will find Jocelyn well prepared for each class; a habit she developed teaching college-level courses. Despite this formal background, the atmosphere in one of Jocelyn’s classes is a relaxed, dog and handler centered environment.
In the basic obedience course, Jocelyn covers the five basic obedience commands (sit, come, stay, lie down and heel), gradually introducing distractions to “proof” your dog and preparing him or her for obedient behavior in a variety of real-world situations. While the five basic obedience commands are taught during the six-week course, she will also focus on your specific needs with your pet.
